This Puregenius Kojic Acid & Turmeric bar has officially survived the chaos lab that is my bathroom — meaning:My husband didn’t complain it “smelled like a health food store,”The Yorkie didn’t attempt to steal it or drag it under the bed,And it didn’t dissolve into a tragic soap pancake after two uses.The scent is bright and clean, the lather is creamy, and the bar feels way more luxurious than the price tag. I used it on a couple of dark spots that have been hanging around like uninvited guests, and after a week, they’re noticeably lighter. Not gone — but definitely packing their bags.🐾 Yorkie Testimony (as recorded by the court stenographer, me):“I approached the human during her nightly routine. The soap was foamy, citrusy, and suspiciously fancy. I sniffed. I observed. I supervised. I found no offensive odors, no alarming fizzing, and no reason to bark. The human’s face looked smoother. Great soap…slightly frustrating mesh bag
I’ve been using this soap for about three weeks, and I’m pleased with it. I’m still on the first bar, as I mostly use it for my face.It’s a very soft soap that easily produces a phenomenal sudsing action. I apply it to my face and then let it sit on there for a bit so it can do its work. You can feel a nice little tingle. It’s mild…not a burning feeling. I like it because I know it’s working. Then after a couple minutes I rinse it off. The skin does feel noticeably different, somewhat stripped of its natural oils. I’ve not felt that my skin feels overly dry, but it is summer right now. (That could feel different in the midst of winter.)I do believe I’m starting to see some softening of the one dark spot that I have. This is consistent with what I expected…it’s not an overnight solution. I’m pleased with how my skin looks and feels overall.One minor disappointment that I have is in the fragrance. I loved the scent at first, but it has lost most of its scent now that I’m 3/4 of the way through the bar. I believe this is normal, but I had hoped it wouldn’t happen since the soap is hanging in its mesh bag (and wasn’t staying wet). I might recommend cutting each bar in half so you can maintain the scent and freshness longer. The only issue with that is going to be related to the mesh bags provided. You only receive two and they aren’t easily reusable as constructed. The mesh bags themselves are also a bit of a negative for me. The idea is great, and they absolutely help keep the bar from turning into mush…but the rope broke quickly. I’ve probably retied that rope a half dozen times. I also don’t love having to access the soap via a mesh bag, but it’s certainly not the worst.I’m overall pleased with the soap. It’s currently reasonably priced, but I would probably hunt for a different bag or soap holder option in the future.

I ordered this on a whim, not really sure what to expect. I’ve never tried a soap for my body with kojic acid, turmeric, or the other active ingredients in this (like niacinamide). I typically use an unscented soap that is safe for sensitive skin, so I was a bit nervous to try this because many soaps can dry my skin out or irritate it (especially if they have sulfates).The first thing I want to note is that this does have a fragrance. I’m super sensitive to most fragrances, but this one was pleasant to me, which I was shocked by. It smells like fresh squeezed oranges. There are not any scent notes that usually trigger migraines for me like vanilla, musk, lily, sugar, etc.The packaging is nice and has clear information printed on it. This comes with two soaps (each wrapped inside the box in a cellophane type of plastic wrap—wish it wasn’t!) and with two net bags to hold each bar, which I was not expecting. The bags are made of plastic “bubble” netting, which I try to not buy because they are so environmentally unfriendly, and because if they make their way to waterways, they are often mistaken by marine life as being jelly fish or food and can cause harm. I wish these came with a more world-friendly option. I will plan to reuse these and if they need to be disposed of, I will chop them us into confetti-sized pieces so I am not unintentionally the cause of a whale or sea turtle’s harm (or any other animal). I will note, however, that this is clearly advertised as being cruelty-free, which I am happy about!Anyway, considering that you get two soaps and two bags, this is a great value for the money. The soap is meant to be kept in the bubble net bag and hung up to dry away from the flow of water. This makes it last longer. It lathers very easily despite not having any sulfates, which is a big win because I am allergic to them. Using the soap in the bubble net bag can be a big tricky because it wants to shift around, but it isn’t too bad. It lathers well in the bag (which is why I guess they call it a bubble net bag). The bag itself can help to gently exfoliate skin, too.Using this caused my sensitive skin zero irritation, didn’t stain my super pale skin, and left my skin feeling balanced after showering. It did not cause any burning or tingling, which I was nervous about since the instructions said to only leave it on skin for around 15 seconds with sensitive skin. Since I don’t have a timer in my shower, I counted and then rinsed. But I did not feel anything at all, and my skin it very reactive. I do want to say that I didn’t use this on any very sensitive areas of the body, just to be safe! After my shower, my skin did not feel dry, stripped, or slimy. It just felt clean and after applying my body oil onto damp skin as usual, my skin felt nice! The orange scent doesn’t linger and it isn’t very strong at all. I haven’t used this long enough to experience any of the claims about this brightening any areas or exfoliating, fading dark spots, or helping with any potential anti-aging benefits. It is, however, effective at cleaning skin and that’s the most important function of a soap.One thing I do want to say is that I wish this did not have any added colorings. It’s totally unnecessary and I don’t know why they are even needed. I assume because they think people expect it to be the color of turmeric…but if it contains turmeric which is naturally a very bright color, you’d think it would be needed. If it contains an extract from turmeric that doesn’t have a color, just say that in the description. Thankfully, this doesn’t have the food coloring I am allergic to (most things dyed blue cause me bad skin reactions), but I think if they could reduce the plastic waste for this soap and remove the dyes from it, this would be 5 stars for me.

This is a great soap as far as the effectiveness of cleaning goes. However, I’m giving it 3 stars because it unnecessarily contains added dyes and fragrance. Which is not listed anywhere on this product page. All ingredients should be clearly outlined here. The primary ingredients are great.Thankfully the scent is light and not over fragranced.This soap lathers up well and definitely gives me a squeaky clean feeling. it does seem to be very drying while I’m using it, but once I get out of the shower , it’s not as skin drying as I thought. I wish it were a little more moisturizing though. I have sensitive skin and this didn’t cause any irritation.I can’t stress enough about how clean this makes me feel and how effective it is at exfoliating my skin. My skin looks smoother and lighter. It takes away the dullness.It’s cruelty free, which is important to me.The price is a little steep but if it weren’t for the dyes/fragrance it would be a better value.If they take away those 3 ingredients, I would be a repeat customer.

This soap is nice quality but does have a strong orange fragrance to it. This kind of soap is meant to sit on your skin for a bit before washing off, but kojic acid can be drying, so make sure that you are moisturizing right after, especially if using on your face or around delicate eye areas.I have sensitive skin so I am building up to it but only use it once a week for the exfoliating properties. This helps to even out rough skin and discoloration by gently exfoliating and removing that dead skin so it looks brighter and smoother.It’s doesn’t leave a residue but does leave skin feeling a little tight, which is a sign of dryness and that’s why moisturizer is so important. If your skin is itchy right after, you’ll need another layer of lotion.The soap is effective but the mesh bag isn’t very soft and feels like plastic. You need to tie a knot in the string to keep the soap from falling out while you use it, but they give you one per bar, so don’t worry about untying to reuse.Overall, I am happy with the quality and awakening citrus fragrance of the soap and would recommend to others, but would also recommend a different soap bag for a better shower experience.

I’ve been using this soap daily for about a week, specifically on my underarms and inner thighs where I tend to have a lot of hyperpigmentation related to PCOS. I honestly wasn’t expecting to notice much this quickly, but I can already see an improvement in how even and bright those areas look.The soap lathers really well, is easy to use, and so far hasn’t felt overly harsh on my skin. I also like that the bars are a good size and the package includes the exfoliating nets.Of course, everyone’s skin is different and I’ll need to keep using it longer to see the full results, but after only one week I’m impressed with the changes I’m already seeing. Definitely looking forward to seeing the results with continued use!
